The 3 Seasons of a Woman's Life

Note: These are my notes from a talk given by Tita Ditas Español during one of the monthly sessions of JEWELS. From what I remember, she based her presentation on a book of the same name.

1. The Season of Seed Planting

This is the season when nothing seems to be happening on the surface. It can be a lonely place of waiting.

For us women, this is the chance for us to deepen our relationship with God and to discern His divine plan for our lives. God’s call is something we just can’t shake no matter how hard we try. It keeps on coming up; it chases after us.

If we feel stuck, God might be keeping us from moving forward to the next phase because we have not yet surrendered our whole life to His will. Our season will not change unless we say “yes” to God.

2. The Season of Growth

This is the season of obedience, service, and preparation.

Each woman is designed to use her skills, talents, and gifts to promote the kingdom of God. We may be required to give up certain things to be able to fully realize these potentials. When this happens, it can be hard to let go because we don’t trust that God will give us something better.

We learn to walk in faith, because as we move through our seasons, God’s plan may remain to be a complete mystery. But, we are assured that whatever He asks us to do, He will provide the resources we need to get the job well done.

3. The Season of Harvest

This is the season of contentment and fulfillment, when we reap the fruits of the seeds we have planted and nurtured. It doesn’t mean though that we can take it easy. Complacency makes us lazy and lose sight of our goals, causing us to miss the future blessings God has prepared for us.

We might be experiencing different seasons in each aspect of our lives. True contentment and happiness lies in knowing that God is going through each season with us, whatever circumstances we might be in. If you are in a rough patch in your life right now, remember that instead of escaping the storm, eagles are said to fly above it, using the strong winds to lift them higher.
